Assignments with a Child Focus
There are a range of sectors and assignments where AYAD volunteers will have considerable contact with children (anyone under the age of 18) either directly through their assignment or indirectly through their assignment location. In assignments with a child focus volunteers must adhere to child safe practises.
The AYAD Program will develop, implement and review guidelines and practices that support the protection of children. One of these measures is a screening process for recruitment which includes a written application, a personal interview with targeted questions and a verbal reference check. All volunteers will complete a criminal record check prior to undertaking their assignments.
The AYAD Program is committed to the protection of all children. The Child Protection Policy provides guidance for AYAD personnel and volunteers on appropriate behaviour when interacting with children both in Australia and overseas. AYAD respects the rights and welfare of all peoples and their involvement in providing safe environments.
