Partners and Families
You partner and family can be excellent support for you while you are on your AYAD placement. However, please note that the AYAD Program does not place couples or families on assignments.
If partners do apply for assignments in the same country the AYAD Program cannot guarantee that they will both be successful. The Selection Process is a merit based process with the best candidate for each assignment being selected as the preferred candidate.
While the AYAD Program does not discourage partners and families from accompanying you on assignment, we do not provide any financial or other support for these dependents or partners. It is important that you have considered the costs associated with supporting a dependent (like insurance, medical, schooling) before making the decision for them to accompany you on assignment.
Your friends and family are encouraged to visit you while you are overseas. However, please be aware of cultural sensitivities and find out if it is appropriate for your partner or friends to stay with you.
